 Collection of statistics with regards to:

  • The slaughter of designated animals;
  • The export of live designated animals;
  • The import and export of meat products;
  • The import and export of hides of designated animals;
  • The local production of hides of designated animals;
  • Pork meat used in the meat processors business;
  • Commission earned by livestock agents;
  • Meat retailers and meat outlets;

 Processing of the abovementioned statistics into specific information as required by the different role-players in the meat industry;

 Processing of the abovementioned statistics into effective management information on which important decisions by the Red Meat Industry Forum can be based;

 Collection of levies payable by all of the different levy payers;

 Administration of the collected funds on behalf of the Red Meat Industry Forum;
 Allocation of the funds to the necessary industry functions as per instruction from the Levy Committee of Meat Statutory Measure Service;

The Red Meat Industry Forum was established in 1994 when the Agricultural control boards were disbanded. The Red Meat Industry Forum of South Africa represnts all the nationally representative roleplayer organisations in the Red Meat industry and conducts its affairs according to its Constitution.
